slowly making progress

slowly making progress finishing this emb quilt . have decided fantasia would be a good title. loved that movie and the fantasy animals and gardens in the movie remind me of this quilt. struggling hand sewing all the stries hiding the seams--plus the binding.mr. blackie is enjoying it!! it is very foggy but just above freezing so the ice is slowly going away.

 i hand emb this piece probably has taken 5 years to do the center. i recycled flannel bed sheets from the nursing home and dyed them. wanting to use them i pieced four together, layered with batting and did minimal machine quilting to hold them together. finally trying to get this done.

I spent this week putting borders on in the quilt as you go style. seems like it is taking forever but i think the blue outside borders really make this pop. i am working on hand sewing down the stripes hiding the joins on the back, plus the binding and sleeve. not sure about the binding-I cut it wider than normal to add color to the back. still have some beads and emb to do on the main part but getting closer to a finish. yeahhhhhh

happy new year. going to try and blog more through 2017 and keep adding pictures of all of the quilts in this house. still struggling on down sizing. a new internet group is doing a 365 stitch a day with emb stitches. going to dye some flannel and work on this project. have sort of decided to do landscae emb...we'll see how that goes.
